Abstract

Islamic education in formal institutions—particularly boarding schools—bears a significant responsibility that extends beyond the mere transfer of cognitive knowledge to the holistic shaping of students' spiritual and moral character. This study aims to analyze and describe in depth how the consistent and structured implementation of the Duha prayer habituation program serves as an effective pedagogical strategy for fostering Islamic character among students at SMA Al-Madina Boarding School Cianjur. The Islamic character traits examined include discipline, responsibility, spiritual tranquility (tuma'ninah), and consistency (istiqamah). A qualitative, descriptive research approach was employed. Data collection involved participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, supervising teachers, dormitory mentors, and student representatives, alongside a review of relevant documentation. The findings reveal that the practice of congregational Duha prayer at SMA Al-Madina Boarding School Cianjur is not merely a ritualistic, voluntary act of worship, but an instrument of spiritual cultivation (riyadhah ruhiyyah) integrated into the school's ecosystem. This habituation has proven effective in significantly fostering student punctuality, raising awareness of spiritual obligations, and creating the emotional tranquility necessary for learning readiness. The program's success is strongly underpinned by the exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah) of the educators and dormitory mentors, who serve as the primary driving force. The study highlights the importance of integrating a consistent religious atmosphere across both the academic curriculum and dormitory guidance to produce a young generation possessing steadfast moral and spiritual integrity.
